The challenge

Our required continuous level measurement of a storage silo with silicic acid, which is used for processing into electrical components. The particular challenge of this application is the extremely dusty environment, the low density of the silicic acid and its stickiness.

Our solution

The UWT lot NB 3200 fulfills the extreme demands of this application. The specially constructed sensor weight with a folding parachute cover prevents the sensor from sinking into the material and the integrated tape cleaner prevents strong contamination of the inner chamber. The NB 3200 provides an exact and reliable measurement result. Neither strong dust development inside the silo, nor caking, nor the soft surface of the silicic acid level adversely influence the UWT lot NB 3200 measurement.

The challenge

Our customer required continuous, full and empty measurement of a silo containing silicic acid, which is used for the further processing of paper coating. Furthermore discharge monitoring is also required in the pipe manifold. The challenge is that the material is very dusty and has a very light density, particularly in flow form.

Our solution

The UWT lot NB 3200 fulfills the continuous measurement requirements. The sensor weight is a specially constructed folding cloth weight that sits on the silicic acid. The integrated tape cleaner prevents heavy contamination of the NB inner chamber. The NB measurement results can be totally relied on. Neither strong dust development, nor the surface of the silicic acid nor material caking, cause problems for the NB. To complement contents measurement, the VIBRASIL90 probe is the ideal solution for full and empty detection. Flow detection in the pipe manifold is achieved with the VIBRASIL70. Both the VIBRASIL70 and VIBRASIL90 are so sensitive that they can detect material with a density of just 5 g/l.

Vibrasil 70

Full, Demand, Empty Detector
Short version, pipe or cable extension shaft from series VN2000 / VN6000 series 

  • Ideal for extremely light or pneumatically conveyed bulk solids.
  • Very high sensitivity <5g/l.
  • Shaft with aluminium fork.

The challenge

The government of Belgium required a continuous level control for ablated sand in harbour basins. With the help of special dredges the harbour basins are regularly cleared from sand which is conveyed on the ships. The particular challenge is to find a measuring system that on the one hand can withstand the very aggressive conditions and on the other hand delivers precise measuring results. After a testing period that compared three suppliers, the UWT NB3 interface solution convinced the customer in the end.

Our solution

With the special lot system NB 3300 for interface measurement could fulfill the requirements of the belgian government for precise measurement and corrosion resistance in salt water. The weight was specially adjusted for the surface of the sand in water in order to get a measurement accuracy of 1cm. Each part that tangents the aggressive salt water are rather coated with a special material or have been produced with a corrosion resistant material.

The challenge

The essential element of shaftless spiral conveyors is their shaftless spiral which, with the help of a trapezoidal section, ensures that material is conveyed over the whole diameter of the conveyor. This special feature means large quantities of material can be conveyed, using the conveyor to full capacity with low revolutions and minimum power consumption

Our solution

UWT´s rotating paddle switches ROTONIVO RN4000 meets their requirements. In 2006 our sales partner in Czech started this cooperation with the company. UWT has become the main suppleir and replaced E&H. OEM customer: 150-200 pcs RN4 / year and about 10-15 pcs RN3001.

RN 4001

Full, Demand, Empty Detector 
Short version

  • Vertical, horizontal and oblique installation.
  • Ideal detector for process vessels or small storage containers.

The challenge

This oil-based drilling mud is stored in the silos and used for drilling activities off-shore. The main functions of drilling fluids include providing hydrostatic pressure to prevent formation fluids from entering into the well bore, keeping the drill bit cool and clean during drilling, carrying out drill cuttings and suspending the drill cuttings while drilling is paused and when the drilling assembly is brought in and out of the hole. For this tanks a continuous level sensor was needed. The challenge is also the aggressive atmosphere in this ship industry.

Our solution

For this level measurement a compact sensor NR3100 with radar technology was used. This FMCW sensor has a transmission frequency of approx. 78GHz, which ensures optimum reflection from the drilling fluid and also has the best mechanical conditions for use at sea. Stainless steel housing with protection class IP68 and PEI lens antenna. This guaranteed a high resistancy to the aggressive salt water atmosphere.
